Dr. Atilla Aykanat graduated as an architect from the A.D.M.M.A. in 1970. He completed his German language education at the Goete-Institut in Germany in 1971-72. In 1972-74, he repeated his architecture education at the Faculty of Architecture at Karlsruhe Technical University (TH), Germany, and received the Diplom Eng.- Architekt diploma. In 1974-76, he took specialized courses in Reinforced Concrete and Statics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the same university. He worked in various architectural offices in Germany. In 1977-79, he worked as a Building Project Assistant and Specialist at the A.D.M.M.A. Department of Architecture. In 1984, he completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University and received his Doctor of Science degree. Between 1977 and 2007, he worked as an Architect, Chief Architect, Expert Architect, and Project Group Manager at Türkiye Şeker Fabrikaları A.Ş. (Turkish Sugar Factories Inc.). In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eskişehir Anadolu University. During this period, he served as a member of the management and audit boards of various industrial institutions and engineering companies. Between 2011 and 2013, he served as the founding Head of the Architecture Department, a faculty member, Vice Dean, and a member of the Faculty Board at Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture. In 2016, he joined the Department of Architecture and Interior Architecture at Istanbul Doğuş University, simultaneously working on the design and construction of various architectural projects. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Ankara Ostim Technical University. Dr. Atilla Aykanat, who has written various books and articles in the field of architecture, speaks limited working level English and advanced German.
